The ABYC Mission and Vision
Mission: The role of the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) is to be the essential source of technical information for the international marine industry. We will develop product safety standards, credentialing, education, training, and other tools to equip our members to be successful. Everything we do will support our members to achieve the goal of making boating safer.
Vision: The American Boat & Yacht Council, ABYC, will maximize customer satisfaction with the boating experience through safety standards for products, service and repair.
The E-11 Standards
Purpose:
These standards are guides for the design, construction, and installation of alternating current (AC) electrical systems on boats and of direct current (DC) electrical systems on boats.
Scope:
These standards apply:
1. to alternating current (AC) electrical systems on boats operating at frequencies of 50 or 60 hertz and less than 300 volts, including shore powered systems up to the point of connection to the shore outlet and including the shore power cable and,
2. to direct current (DC) electrical systems on boats operating at nominal 50 volts or less.
